LU 26-0014 Tree Code Amendments
Guided by the recommendations in the City’s Urban and Community Forestry Plan, the Tree Regulation Amendments Project updates the City’s tree regulations to support long-term urban forest health, improving clarity and effectiveness of regulations, and assures compliance with state law. Work began in May 2025 and is expected to be completed in Summer 2026.
A 12-member Tree Task Force, appointed by the City Council, is providing input throughout the process. The project also includes public outreach and work sessions with the boards and commissions and City Council.

The Lake Oswego City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, July 21, 2026; 3:00 p.m., to consider the proposed amendments.

On Monday June 22, 2026, the Planning Commission adopted the findings, conclusion, and order recommending approval of the draft Tree Regulation Amendments to the City Council. The adopted findings, which include the Recommended Code Amendments, are available in the Public Record folder.
The City Council hearing to consider final adoption of the Tree Regulation Amendments is scheduled for Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 3:00pm. The staff report and exhibits will be posted on the Meetings page prior to the Council hearing. On June 8, the Planning Commission made a preliminary recommendation that the City Council approve the proposed amendments and directed staff to return with the draft Findings, Conclusions, and Order for consideration at its next meeting on June 22, 2026.
