Update on Public Hearing for LU 13-0010 - Comprehensive Plan Amendments Related to Periodic Review (Package 1)
On Monday, April 22, 2013, the Planning Commission is scheduled to hear a request from the City of Lake Oswego for text amendments to Lake Oswego Comprehensive Plan goals and policies relating to the proposed Community Culture, Complete Neighborhoods and Housing, Inspiring Spaces and Places, Economic Vitality and Connected Community chapters (Package 1).
The Planning Commission will have the option to open the public hearing, and then continue it to a date certain. This is because the current City Council approved a motion on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, that directs the following to occur in advance of the final hearings: identify subject matter and goals and policies that are 1) unrelated to land use; 2) that direct the City to increase residential densities and to add mixed uses in neighborhood residential zones; 3) that may obligate the city to future actions that would have budgetary impacts and, 4) to develop a tracking system so that proposed changes to the existing Comprehensive Plan can be clearly understood.
The City Council wishes to do this so that the above analysis and concerns can be made available for public input in advance of Planning Commission’s final hearing. However, the Planning Commission could, in its capacity as advisory to Council, elect to proceed with its hearing on April 22, 2013.
