The Lake Oswego City Council has selected Jason Loos as its new City Attorney. Mr. Loos, most recently the City Attorney for the City of Rochester, Minnesota, replaces former City Attorney David Powell, who retired at the end 2020.

"After conducting a thorough national search and an interview process involving multiple stakeholders, the city councilors and I are excited to welcome Jason to Lake Oswego. His experience, background and perspective will serve our community well, and we're all looking forward to working together," said Mayor Joe Buck.

“I am honored to be selected to succeed David Powell and work with the Lake Oswego team,” said Loos. “My family and I are excited to return to Oregon and join the Lake Oswego community.”

Prior to his position as City Attorney at Rochester, Mr. Loos worked as Deputy City Attorney with the City of Portland, Oregon, City Attorney at the City of Laramie, Wyoming, and Assistant City Attorney at the City of Fargo, North Dakota. Mr. Loos obtained his law degree from the University of North Dakota School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree from North Dakota State University. He is a licensed attorney in Oregon, Minnesota, and North Dakota.

Mr. Loos will begin work on June 14, 2021. It is expected that Council will approve his employment contract on April 20, 2021. Evan Boone will continue to serve as City Attorney Pro Tem until June 14.
