Field Day Event - June 23

Saturday, June 23, 2018 - 11:00am to Sunday, June 24, 2018 - 12:00am

Ham it up on Saturday, June 23!

Join us for the annual field day event - Westlake Park, 14165 Bunick Drive

On Saturday June 23, stop by the "portable HAM shack" at Westlake Park as local HAMs (amateur radio operators) join thousands of their peers across the country to demonstrate their emergency communications capabilities. Meet the LO ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services) team and learn about the many ways they are trained to assist the community in the event of emergency. The team will begin their radio and antenna setup at 8 a.m. and be operational at 11 a.m. Stop by and visit and they will get you "on the air."

LO ARES augments the LO Fire Department’s communication system when needed. If there is a failure of power and cellular services following an earthquake, windstorm, or other disaster, normal communications may be unable to handle all of the vital messages that need to be passed – LO ARES will be there to help.
