Tis the season of giving! Each year the City partners with a number of organizations to help those in need in our community. Together we can make this holiday season a little brighter!
Toy Drive
Our Fire and Library departments have partnering to bring holiday cheer to children in need! They are collecting new, unwrapped toys that will be shared with local families in the area. Please drop off toys by December 15 at the Lake Oswego Fire Main Station (300 B Ave) or the Lake Oswego Library (706 Fourth Street).
Hunger Fighters Oregon
Hunger Fighters continues to see a record number of people in Lake Oswego who need emergency food. You can donate nonperishable food items at City Hall (south entrance vestibule, open 24/7) or directly with Hunger Fighters (located at 2301 Hazel Road).
Meals on Wheels
Did you know that Lake Oswego has its own Meals on Wheels service? It is operated by the City with fundraising by the volunteer LO Meal Network with 20,000 meals served annually. Since the start of the pandemic, delivery participation has increased by nearly 10%, and to-go meal participation has tripled. To donate to this essential service, visit lakeoswegomealsonwheels.org
Personal Care Items
The City is collecting basic need items for our families in need programs. Please consider donating unused items such as shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, disposable razors, diapers, deodorant and sunscreen. Donations barrels are available to drop off items at City Hall (south entrance vestibule, open 24/7).
Utility Assistance
We created a temporary utility payment assistance for City of Lake Oswego utility customers impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. Donations to the fund can be made by anyone. All donations are placed into a fund used exclusively for emergency utility assistance and administered by a local non-profit. More details.
Clackamas County has launched Business Recovery Centers countywide. Centers provide resources and services for our local businesses to reopen and recover from COVID-19 impacts. This includes business coaching, grant writing, multilingual business assistance, legal assistance, and more. They offer one-stop shop to recovery assistance for businesses of all sizes and types.

Starting tonight, Friday, 11/6 at 10 p.m., the intersection of Bryant, Firwood & Boones Ferry Road will be reconstructed and paved. This work is expected to continue 24/7 over the weekend, through 6 a.m. Monday, 11/9 and will significantly impact normal traffic routes.

Great news! Last night, we reached a major milestone: PGE removed the final remaining overhead utility pole in the project area [shown below]!
All utility overhead poles are now removed and all utility cables and wires are underground within the project limits! Next time you travel through the project area, see if you can notice the difference. Here are a few before and after photos:
Undergrounding utilities has been a highly complex and complicated effort since construction started in summer 2019. THANK YOU to all the utility companies, property owners, businesses, customers, and the traveling public for your patience and coordination with this huge feat. There have been many challenges and obstacles along the way, but with collaboration, communication and teamwork, we were able to accomplish the task!
Crews are making solid progress building the new raised landscaped medians between Bryant Road and Madrona Street. Concrete pours are scheduled to occur over the next few weeks for portions of the medians.
Soon, the intersection of Bryant x Firwood x Boones Ferry Road will be completely reconstructed and paved.
This intersection work will result in a temporary closure on portions of both Bryant Road and Firwood Road. To minimize impacts, this work is planned to take place over one weekend starting at 10 p.m. Friday, November 6 through 6 a.m. Monday, November 9.

COVID-19 has led us to new days, and we are continuing to find new ways to celebrate our holidays, including Halloween. OHA and CDC recommend avoiding traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating activities this year. Instead, consider lower risk activities to celebrate safely, like our very own Monster Mash Drive-Thru Spooktacular, hosted by our Parks and Rec team!

The City still has some grant funding available from Business Oregon for local businesses and nonprofits impacted by the pandemic. Sole proprietors, woman-owned, and minority-owned businesses and 501c3 nonprofits are strongly encouraged to apply.
