Lake Garden Pond Stormwater Facility Evaluation

Project Overview

Lake Garden Pond is an existing stormwater facility designed to capture and treat runoff from nearby roads and homes, located on Lake Garden Court. During rainfall, stormwater carries pollutants and sediment into local waterbodies. The pond helps improve water quality, reduce localized flooding, and provide habitat for wildlife.

The City is currently evaluating the pond to better understand its condition, performance, and long-term maintenance needs. Aerial imagery below shows how the pond has changed since 2009, including increased sediment buildup and changes in vegetation.

This effort is focused on gathering information and identifying practical maintenance approaches that consider safety, water quality, community benefits, and costs. At this stage, no restoration work or maintenance changes are underway.

Future work may be considered based on the results of this evaluation. Any next steps would follow additional planning and coordination.

We appreciate your interest and patience as this work progresses. Updates and additional information will be shared on this page as they become available.

Schedule

During 2026, the project team will complete detailed field investigations and engineering analysis to understand existing conditions at Lake Garden Pond. This phase will guide restoration planning and design.

Work may include:

  • Topographic and boundary surveying
  • Sediment depth and water quality sampling
  • Geotechnical and infiltration testing
  • Evaluation of inlet and outlet structures
  • Vegetation and habitat assessments
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling

The information gathered will be used to develop restoration recommendations and finalize design plans.

Recommended improvements are expected to be completed sometime in 2027.
