Take Charge of Fire Safety - Open House
October is Fire Prevention Month in Oregon
The Lake Oswego Fire Department (LOFD) and Oregon State Fire Marshal invite you to “Take Charge of Fire Safety” by learning more about rechargeable batteries.
Rechargeable batteries - including lithium-ion batteries - power a wide range of devices, from smartphones, laptops, and wearable technology to e-scooters, power tools, electric vehicles, and much more. If mishandled, damaged, or improperly used, these batteries pose a serious risk - they can overheat, catch fire, or even explode.
To help people understand how to safely use these batteries, LOFD is hosting a series of open houses. The open houses will take place every Saturday in October, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We invite everyone to stop by!
- October 4 - Main Fire Station, 300 B Ave.
- October 11 - Westlake Fire Station, 4900 Melrose St.
- October 18 - Jean Road Fire Station, 4555 Jean Road
- October 25 - South Shore Fire Station, 1880 South Shore Blvd
October is also Breast Cancer Awareness
To support Breast Cancer Awareness, the Lake Oswego Fire Department is holding a fund-raiser selling Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirts. T-shirts come in blue or black with pink logo/text, $15 for youth sizes, $20 for adult sizes. 100% of the profit will be donated to the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation. T-shirts can be picked up at the Main Fire Station at 300 B Avenue or at any of the Take Charge of Fire Safety open houses. Cash or checks only.
