What is a Jr. Camp Counselor?
The Jr. Camp Counselor program is a volunteer program that offers pre-employment experience in LOPR Summer Camps from June-August. Weekly volunteer opportunities are available throughout the summer; camps include Kindercamp, Luscher Farm, Lego and more. Jr. Camp Counselors earn volunteer hours while working with camp participants ages 3-12 by leading games, assisting with set up/clean up of camp and supervising restroom/water breaks.
Eligibility & Acceptance Process
This opportunity is open to teens ages 13-17 that are available to make week-long commitments during the summer months. Applications open March 1 through mid-May, followed by a group interview process. Applicants submit a scheduling worksheet at the time of their interview and are notified of acceptance by May 31. A $15 fee will apply to accepted students which covers, training, Jr. Camp Counselor t-shirt and fanny pack.
