City News & Announcements
A flood watch and wind advisory is in effect for NW Oregon and SW Washington, with periods of heavy rain and wind Monday 12/8 through Wednesday 12/10. Our Public Works team is all hands-on deck clearing and checking catch basins and monitoring conditions. Let’s make sure we’re all prepared to weather this storm together. Please do your part by clearing debris and leaves from nearby catch basins and guttters with a rake or shovel. This helps water flow freely, reducing the risk of local flooding.

Lake Oswego uses the ClackCo PublicAlerts emergency notification software system to distribute important emergency messages. The City urges everyone to sign up to receive PublicAlerts notifications.
Each county has its own unique PublicAlerts system. You will only receive this type of alert if the address you provided when signing up is in an affected area. Depending on where you live, work, attend school, etc. You might need to register in several counties.
On September 2, 2025, the Lake Oswego City Council approved an ordinance to lower the speed limit on local residential streets and some neighborhood collectors in Lake Oswego from 25 miles per hour (mph) to 20 mph.
Public Works crews are rolling out the Go sLOw speed reduction program, moving clockwise one neighborhood at a time. Phase 1 includes replacing existing 25 MPH signs; Phase 2 (next year) will add new posts and additional signs. The full rollout of the program runs through 2026.
New speed limits take effect as soon as the signs change.
The City sweeps every neighborhood on a regular rotation using our main sweepers, Oscar and Sweep Caroline. They work zone by zone, Monday through Friday, and some weekends. While they can sweep the whole city in about a week during spring and summer, fall and winter take longer due to heavy leaf and pine needle buildup. Thank you for your patience as crews make their way through each zone.
You can help sweeping be more efficient by keeping leaves and yard debris out of the street. Please do not rake, blow, or pile leaves into the roadway, as this clogs and damages equipment and is also against City code.
