About Human Resources

Welcome to the City of Lake Oswego Human Resources Department. The department is responsible for providing a full-range of comprehensive human resources services and programs to the City that will:

  • Provide leadership and act as a resource to the organization in all aspects of human resources management
  • Enable the City to acquire, develop, and retain a skilled, diverse, and service-oriented work force.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain human resources policies and procedures
  • Provide leadership to create and maintain cooperative labor/management relations with the City’s represented employees
  • Create and maintain a performance appraisal system that allows for an annual review of employee contributions and work performance
  • Maintain and update the City’s compensation and classification system
  • Serve as a resource on the administration of employee benefits and to communicate employee benefit information to all employees
  • Provide training and development opportunities to managers, supervisors and employees
  • Facilitate communication and provide assistance in problem solving and conflict resolution
  • Develop and implement the City's risk management policies and programs
