Global Stories (and Origami) - Japanese
Listen to stories and learn about global cultures of Lake Oswego community members. Each month spotlights a different world language, culture, and a simple craft.
In March, Chieri returns to tell us about Japan, share a story and teach us how to create an origami craft! Chieri was born in Japan and moved to the United States when she was a teenager. She grew up having fond memories living in many different places in Japan. After moving to Texas when she was in high school, she learned English while participating on the Speech and Debate team. Later she attended University of Colorado in Boulder, achieving a masters in education. She has taught middle school math in NM, WA and now teaches in Lake Oswego. She has two daughters, and they all love to visit the LO library. She has participated in LOPL multicultural programs since 2019.
(If your native language is not English, and you are interested in reading a story aloud to children at the library, please speak to one of our Youth Services Librarians for more information.)
