Global Stories - Arabic

Saturday, December 2, 2023 - 10:30am to 11:00am

First Saturday Readalouds

Join Sindos in the Children's Library as she reads to us in Arabic. "My name is Sindos Searty and I am from Iraq. In Iraq we speak Arabic currently but a few of the remote villages still speak the old Syriac Aramaic language (Jesus's language) which is almost extinct. I grew up in the United Arab Emirates but my heritage is Mesopotamian. I am currently a business owner and my background is in commercial real estate analysis but currently working in residential real estate. I enjoy travelling, swimming, snorkeling and diving in the warm ocean plus reading about ancient civilizations like Mesopotamia."

Listen to stories and songs told in different languages by Lake Oswego community members. Each month spotlights a different world language, familiar songs, and a simple craft.

(If your native language is not English, and you are interested in reading a story aloud to children at the library, please speak to one of our Youth Services Librarians for more information.)
