Global Stories - Farsi

Saturday, January 4, 2025 - 10:30am to 11:00am

First Saturday Readalouds feature stories and songs told in different languages by Lake Oswego community members. Each month spotlights a different world language, familiar songs, and a simple craft.

In December we welcome Delaram to lead our readaloud in Farsi. She described herself like this:

Delaram Safarpour is a neurologist and movement disorders specialist. She has lived in Portland for the past seven years with her husband and her two sons. They love checking out libraries and going between aisles to find new books! They also love checking out the "lucky day" books!  Delaram's favorite genres of books are fiction and mystery.  She enjoys both reading and also listening to audiobooks.
Delaram has been teaching Farsi to children in the Iranian Women Association of Oregon (IWAO) for the past three years and truly enjoys interacting with people who are interested in learning to speak and write and read in a second language.

(If your native language is not English, and you are interested in reading a story aloud to children at the library, please speak to one of our Youth Services Librarians for more information.)
