ONLINE: 1000 Books Before Kindergarten - home edition
Hello Parents and Caregivers! Since you are likely doing lots of extra read-alouds with the children in your lives, here's a way to add another layer of fun to your reading!
Usually recommended for children ages birth through four years old, we are broadening the invitation to ALL early readers. No need to register now, just start logging the reading you are doing together already. Use the attached log sheet.
Enjoy your family reading now, we'll keep your tote bags, achievement badges, and free books waiting for when we next see you in the library. Psst: We have a finisher award for adults in the works; you deserve the recognition too! We'll handle sign-ups later. This page will be updated with information and suggestions as we go.
The research is in. Reading to babies and young children builds vocabulary and provides them with the skills they’ll need to learn to read.
Get started on the reading journey with your child by becoming part of Lake Oswego Library’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program. It’s easy and so doable! We’ll provide the support along the way with gifts, including a book bag and two prize books, log sheets, early literacy information, special programs for participants, and suggestions for reaching the 1000 book goal.
