StoryWalk®: Kapaemahu

May 1-31, during park hours
Freepons Park, 1399 Bickner St.

Take a walk through Freepons Park to read our newest StoryWalk® installation, Kapaemahu. Written by Hinaleimoana Wong-Kalu, Dean Hammer and Joe Wilson and illustrated by Daniel Sousa, Kapaemahu is a gorgeously rendered and powerfully written reclamation of the native Hawaiian legend of the healer stones. Based on an animated short film by the authors that was shortlisted for an Oscar at the 2021 Academy Awards, this is a story of hope, trust and inclusion. Written in both English and Olelo Niihau (a form of Hawaiian) it might be a part of your celebration of AANHPI month.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
