The City of Lake Oswego offers funding support for initiatives that will benefit the residents of Lake Oswego. The City currently offers the Social Service Grant, Council Goals Grant, the Historic Preservation Grant, and the Historic Education Grant.

What are Municipal Grants?
The City of Lake Oswego offers funding support for initiatives that will benefit the residents of Lake Oswego. The City currently offers the Social Service Grant, Council Goals Grant, the Historic Preservation Grant, and the Historic Education Grant.
Who is eligible?
Council Goal Grant:
Any individual, group, or entity that intends to execute an initiative advancing at least one of the Lake Oswego City Council’s Goals is eligible to apply. Preference will be given to entities with strong community ties (residents, Neighborhood Associations, Lake Oswego-based non-profits, local businesses).
Social Services Grant:
Applicants must be 501(c)3 nonprofits serving Lake Oswego residents.

Who decides grant funding?
Social Services Grants and City Council Goals Grants are reviewed by the Municipal Grants Subcommittee, which is a subcommittee of the Budget Committee comprised of both appointed community volunteers and City Council members. The Municipal Grants Subcommittee will review applications for both the Social Services Grant and the Council Goal Grant to provide recommendations to the City Council for final approval.
Historic Preservation and Education Grants are reviewed and awarded through the Historic Resources Advisory Board.
Can I apply for both the Council Goal Grant and the Social Services Grant?
No, organizations may only apply for the Council Goal Grant or the Social Services Grant.
What criteria is being used to decide grant recipients?
All grants will be evaluated on the community impact and the ability to serve the residents of Lake Oswego. Additional emphasis will be placed on how the initiative aligns with the City Council Goals.
When are Council Goal Grant and Social Services Grant applications due?
Grant applications will be reviewed at two dates for the FY 2025-26 cycle. The first due date will be September 25, 2025 for an October 2025 award. The second due date will be February 27, 2026 for a March 2026 award.
My organization was awarded grant funding, how do I receive the funds?
After the organization has reviewed their award letter, the organization will need to sign the grant agreement form. Grant funds will be reimbursed after the conclusion of the event, the completion of the Final Reporting Form, and with proper invoicing/receipts.*

My organization received grant funding before; can I still apply?
Yes, all organizations need to apply each funding cycle.
If my organization received funding during the first review date, can I apply again for funding in the spring? *
No, organizations may only be funded once during the grant year.
