1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Parents and Caregivers, as you share read-alouds with the children in your lives, here's a way to add another layer of fun to your reading!

The research is in. Reading to babies and young children builds vocabulary and provides them with the skills they’ll need to learn to read. Designed for children ages birth through four years old, we invite families to participate in this reading incentive program. Visit the Children's Library to sign up.

Get started on the reading journey with your child by becoming part of Lake Oswego Library’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program. It’s easy and so doable! Youth Services Librarians provide support along the way with gifts, including a book tote, log sheets, early literacy information, prizes, and tips for reaching the 1000 book goal.

What Your Child Receives:

●Book Bag tote upon registration and five earned patches to decorate the bag - one each for reaching 100, 300, 500, 700, and 1000 books.

●A gift book choice from a wide selection of titles when your child logs 1000 books.
