Dyslexia-Friendly Library Resources:

Pinterest Board: Explore our curated Pinterest board featuring books designed for readers with dyslexia and other helpful resources.

Large Print Books: A wide selection of large print books is available to improve readability and reduce eye strain. These can be found in the library's large print section. Click here to search the catalog for Large Print.

Closed Captioning:

Videos with closed captioning are available in the library's DVD section and through our streaming service Kanopy.

eBook and eAudiobook Features:

Download the Libby app and sign in with your library card to access these eBook and eAudiobook features:

  • Enable OpenDyslexic Font
  • Adjust eAudiobook narration speeds
  • Adjust font sizes and background colors to suit your visual preferences.

Gale Databases offer academic and research databases with built-in accessibility features, including text-to-speech support through ReadSpeaker. Learn more about Gale's accessibility features here.

Newsbank Resources provide access to news articles, historical documents, and other content with customizable accessibility tools such as captioning and text settings. Explore Newsbank's accessibility features here.

LinkedIn Learning offers closed captions, adjustable video playback speeds, and other features to enhance the learning experience. Learn more about LinkedIn Learning’s accessibility features here.

CreativeBug provides online craft classes with transcripts and captions for all videos. Look for the person symbol in the bottom left corner of each class page, and activate full accessibility by clicking the “Enable Accessibility” link on their website.

Volunteer Opportunities for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities

LOPL is proud to partner with the Lake Oswego School District’s Pathways and Community Transition Program to provide meaningful volunteer experiences for students with developmental disabilities. These placements are coordinated by Lake Oswego School District staff as part of the students’ educational and life skills development. Learn more about these programs on the LOSD website.
