Brian Doyle Day Celebration
Each year the library observes Brian Doyle Day on November 6 (Brian's birthday), honoring the great novelist and essayist who was a longtime Lake Oswegan and a tireless supporter of the Lake Oswego Public Library. We'll have commemorations throughout the day, but please join us at 4 p.m. that day for birthday cake with Brian's wife, Mary Doyle. Mary will read an excerpt from the forthcoming book, One Long River of Song, a posthumous collection of Brian's writings scheduled to be published December 3 by Little Brown & Co. You'll have an opportunity to write a comment or thought inspired by Brian, and hang it on the tree that stands next to the Brian Doyle Garden. Enjoy the library that Brian supported so wholeheartedly throughout his life in Lake Oswego, take home a Brian Doyle bookmark, and, most importantly, "be tender and laugh."
This event is free and open to the public. It will be held at the Lake Oswego Public Library, 706 Fourth Street, Lake Oswego, OR 97034. Please call or email Alicia Yokoyama for more information: 503-534-4228 / firstname.lastname@example.org
