Call for Poems
Calling all poets ages 18 and older! The Lake Oswego Public Library is celebrating National Poetry Month in April with our third annual call for poetry! All adults are welcome to submit 1-2 original poems to be included in a compilation featured on the Library's website. Develop your skill, share your talent, and inspire others in the community with your work! All submissions are due April 30 and will be featured on the LOPL website in May. (Feel free to view submissions from previous years.) Please note that this is not a contest.
Eligibility and content guidelines:
Anyone aged 18 or older is welcome to participate—poets do not need to be Lake Oswego residents or LINCC library card holders. Poems can be written on any theme and in any form, and all levels are welcome. Please limit submissions to 1-2 original and unpublished poems, with each poem not exceeding 80 lines. Please do not incldue biographical information or links. Including photos is acceptable, but the document file cannot exceed 2 MB.
Submission guidelines:
Submissions will be accepted electronically between April 1-30. During that time, we'll link to a webform here where you can submit your work electronically. Only .doc and .docx file formats will be accepted. The library's public computers are equipped with Microsoft Word, if needed. Anonymous submissions are welcome. The Library reserves the right not to share any poems deemed to be unsuitable for a general audience. Please proofread your work before submitting.
