Cultural Celebrations
At Lake Oswego Public Library, our programs and events reflect our commitment to celebrating diverse voices, perspectives, and traditions.
We host cultural celebrations for the city of Lake Oswego, offer regular librarian-lead programs throughout the year that seek to build intersectional community, and we frequently invite authors and performers from a wide variety of backgrounds to present programs at the library.

Each year, we learn about and appreciate the many cultures that celebrate Lunar New Year with a variety of fun activities for the whole family! These activities include children's stories read in Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese, music and dance performances, and arts and crafts for all ages. Our annual MLK Community Celebration, planned in collaboration with several community partners, reflects on Dr. King's teachings and inspires attendees to volunteer with local service organizations that are committed to his legacy. To learn about our 2024 MLK Community Celebration, click here.
The library hosts discussion groups that meet virtually on a regular basis. We hope you'll join us! See individual listings for meeting information.
The Global Stories Project highlights diverse traditions, families, and experiences. Multicultural stories reflect our global similarities, while opening doors to new cultures. Check out our First Saturday Readalouds and our Global Stories Book Bundles.
