Guided Tour of the Rogerson Clematis Garden: Exploring a Local National Treasure
Part of the Adult Summer Library Challenge
Did you know that North America's only accredited collection of clematis vines and perennials is practically in your backyard? For 20 years the Rogerson Clematis Garden has been growing at Luscher Farm, administered by the non-profit Friends of the Rogerson Clematis Collection and lovingly tended by a curator, a site manager, and team of talented and devoted volunteers. Please join LOPL and the Friends of the Rogerson Clematis Collection for a guided tour of the garden and its 960+ kinds of clematis, plus hundreds of other perennials, shrubs, and trees grown to support and enhance the clematis. There are 350 species of clematis worldwide, from tiny shrublets in New Zealand to massive woody vines in western Europe, plus hybrids created all over the world. The newest clematis species to be documented are native to the southeast United States, and you will see them here. Come visit as comprehensive a collection of clematis as exists in a public garden in North America, right at Lake Oswego's Luscher Farm Park. Prepare to be amazed.
