How to Create a Backyard Rain Garden with Native Plants

Wednesday, May 22, 2019 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Gardeners in the Pacific Northwest and beyond are searching for low-maintenance, resilient, environmentally-friendly substitutes for turfgrass and exotic plants.  Rain gardening with native plants is a solution, with repercussions beyond the aesthetics.  This presentation will give examples of converting ornamental gardens in incremental ways, so they are valuable components of the landscape.

Following the D Avenue Block Party, join us for this presentation by OSU Master Gardener Kris LaMar.  In addition to being a Master Gardener, Ms. LaMar has been a Master Recycler volunteer for Metro since 2013.  She is a frequent speaker on native plants, pollinators, soils and composting.  As a gardener, she is using native plants to replace less valuable ones on her Damascus property.
