Hector received his MFA in painting from the University of Oregon in 1999, having previously received a MIS in Art and Education, a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, and an undergraduate degree in Social Anthropology.
Since 1997 the focus of Hector’s work has been providing mural workshops as an artist in residence. Such activities include providing instruction and the delivery of murals for requesting institutions. Hector also has had the chance to work on several murals incorporating media such as parachute cloth, tiles, and mosaic. Stained glass and other materials have also been incorporated into his mosaic work. Hector also creates art objects, in addition to mural work, with clay and mixed media.
The library is located at 706 Fourth Street, Lake Oswego. For more information, please contact Todd Feinman at tfeinman@lakeoswego.city
This presentation is made possible by the Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library.

My first experience painting murals was achieved in Mexico City while I was studying my program in Social Anthropology. In that opportunity I participated as collaborator for two murals under the guidance of the Mexican Master painter Arnold Belkin. This experience allowed me to follow the path to community murals from the teachings of the Mexican school of painting. Since then, the academic training that I have gained in painting murals has focused on community murals with an academic background, so I can reach new generations of painters and community artists.

The subjects and themes in my works have been addressing cultural and social issues such as social and cultural change, immigration and cultural interactions and dynamics. Such topics and other related to art have been delivered in several formats at university and k-12 courses.
