HYBRID: From First Breath to Last: A Story About Love, Womanhood and Aging featuring Dede Montgomery

Sunday, August 11, 2024 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm

Part of the Adult Summer Library Challenge!

Join West Linn author Dede Montgomery on Sunday, August 11 at 3pm as she discusses her most recent book, From First Breath to Last: A Story About Love, Womanhood and Aging.

Dede returns to her own roots in From First Breath to Last: A Story About Love, Womanhood and Aging, and skillfully weaves her life with her mother's in a touching tribute to family and what matters most in their lives. She meshes passages from her mother's memoir, journals, published book, and dissertation with her own memories and how her mother's journey influenced her own in a celebration of womanhood. Her mother, Patty Montgomery, was a beloved adjunct professor at Marylhurst University. This lyrical book touches on themes relevant to life's journeys: girl and adulthood, mid-life, aging, illness, our connection with nature, and mother-daughter relationships. This book too illustrates opportunities to contemplate our own legacy and stories, and share with others.

Dede is the author of My Music Man, Beyond the Ripples and Humanity's Grace. She works at the intersection of workforce health, safety and well-being, leads sessions on expressive writing for well-being, and blogs at https://dedemontgomery.com. Dede is a sixth generation Oregonian who grew up on the banks of the Willamette River in Wilsonville, and has lived in West Linn for the last three decades. As a child, she loved to visit the Lake Oswego Public Library in those years before Wilsonville had its own.

This event will take place in-person at the Library and will be livestreamed on LOPL's YouTube channel.

The library is located at 706 Fourth Street, Lake Oswego. This presentation is made possible by the Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library.
