Intro to AI: Foundations for Everyday Use
Tuesday, September 15, 2026 - 2:00pm to 3:30pm
This session will introduce core AI concepts and terms (such as AI summarizers, AI chatbots, and AI prompting) in simple approachable language. Participants will learn the Ask–Tweak–Verify (ATV) method to improve the responses and practice basic fact‑checking with a chatbot. Live demos of Claude AI, Copilot, and ChatGPT will show how to ask everyday questions about topics like recipes and travel. Clear safety guidelines, including maintaining privacy, will be highlighted throughout, with opportunities for hands-on practice. For this session, participants are asked to bring smartphones, laptops or tablets with internet access.
Taught by Adult Services Librarian April Younglove of the Lake Oswego Public Library, with one‑on‑one assistance provided by students from the Lake Youth Leadership Council.
Intro to AI: Foundations for Everyday Use will be offered twice, on September 15 & October 20. Participants may attend one program or, if they would like more practice, may attend both sessions.
