Our speaker on August 7 will be author Karen Berkey Huntsberger. Karen will make a presentation on her new book I’ll Be Seeing You - Letters Home From a Navy Girl. The book tells the true story of a WWII Navy WAVE. Lucy Berkey's experiences are told through her letters home chronicling her decision to enlist, her training, and her assignment as a map artist. Her captivating story of personal and professional transformation is a journey into what it was like to be a young woman constrained by society's expectations during the war years. She joined the Navy and became part of a larger, transformational movement for women.
Karen is the author of two non-fiction books based on WWII letters. She has spoken extensively on her first book, Waiting for Peace – The Journals & Correspondence of a WWII Medic, with the goal of promoting peace. Follow her at https://waitingforpeace.com
The Learning Group is based on the Learning & Technology Group hosted by Art Henderson and Mark Matson for many years at the LO Adult Community Center.
