Maker Day at Lake Oswego Public Library
At this free, hands-on event for all ages, we invite you to explore what’s possible at the Lake Oswego Public Library. Staff and volunteers will lead interactive stations, most featuring tools and equipment from the Library of Things, to demonstrate the range of opportunities available in a modern Makerspace.
3D Printing (for all ages): See what a public 3D printer can do for you, your business, and your family. Watch one in action and try your hand at a 3D printing pen!
Paper Crafts (for all ages): Cut, fold, and design colorful paper and cardboard creations using die-cut, Cricut and ChompSaw machines.
Robotics Demonstrations (for all ages): Local robotics team, All Hands On Tech, will demonstrate their competition level robot and provide hands on experience with LEGO robotics kits. Library users of all ages can learn how coding and engineering bring robots to life.
Sewing Station (for adults/teens): Learn basic techniques by making fabric drink coasters with the sewing machines from the Library of Things. Create something uniquely yours with fabric, thread, and simple tools. No experience necessary!
Slide/Film Scanning Station (for adults/teens): Bring your 35mm slides or negatives (limit of 10 images per person) to our Slide/Film Scanning Station, and a librarian will help you use the Digital Film & Slide Scanner from our Library of Things collection to convert the images into digital files for you to take home on a complimentary flash drive.
Podcasting Station (for adults/teens): Stop by our podcasting station to create a brief (2-3 minute) recording for a podcast and learn some basic editing. Record yourself reading from a selection of books, try out some of the musical instruments from our Library of Things collection, or create something uniquely your own.
Story Booth (for all ages): Share your story! Record a short video about your library experiences and what you dream about in a future library.
Maker Day reflects the Library’s commitment to creative learning and supporting the innovative needs of our community, offering a welcoming space to learn something new and connect with others.
