The New York Times Online

The New York Times is the largest seven-day newspaper in the U.S. 

To access from a web desktop computer or mobile web browser:

  1. Visit this site and log in with your library card and four-digit PIN (If you don't know your PIN, try the last four of your phone number)

  2. Click "Redeem"

  3. To access by account


    Follow steps to create a NYT account, log in with an existing account, or log in with your Facebook or Google account

    If you do not want to create an account

    Enter your email address, click continue and then on the next page leave the password blank and select "log in without password" - you will receive a confirmation email with a clickable link 

  4. Enjoy full access to NYT for 72 hours (Note: the log in screen will say, "Don't hit a wall." Don't worry. You have access. Just close the message and continue)

Logging into The New York Times via app:

  1. The library login will work with the New York Times app for Android, iOS and Fire tablets, but not for e-readers

  2. Please visit your device's app store to get the app

  3. Do not open the app yet, instead, open your device’s browser to the New York Times page

  4. Follow directions above for mobile web browser access to get your Redeem code

  5. Then, launch the New York Times app and sign in with the email address you used to register, and the code will have already been applied

Additional Information:

  • Lake Oswego Public Library members have 72-hour access to nytimes.com for use on any device's Internet browser and smartphone/tablet apps

  • Once your 72 hour pass runs out, you can redeem a new code by following the steps above again

  • You may receive emails from NYT upon creating your account, but you can unsubscribe from these promotional emails

  • This subscription does not include access to The New York Times' Crossword app or to certain NYT recipes; however, other puzzles are available, including the mini crossword

  • When you are logged in with your NYT account, you can save an article for later. This list of items saved for later will be accessible on any device, when you log in to your NYT account.
