Date/Time: Sat, Apr 23, 2016 1:00pm - 2:00pm

400 years in shakespeare's kitchen

Keri Sanburn Behre, Assistant Professor of English at Marylhurst University, will discuss foods enjoyed, feared, and coveted by early modern English people, April 23, 1:00pm. We’ll look at descriptions of food in literature and cookbooks, explore surprising beliefs about foods that were considered healthy and dangerous, and discuss how women in this day used food to leverage power both inside the kitchen and out. Marylhurst University Shakespeare students' poster projects highlighting Shakespeare's foods will be on display, and we'll provide seventeenth-century recipes and snacks!
