Third Tuesday Author: Mary K. Kaiser
Please join us on Tuesday, September 20 at 5:30 pm for a presentation by local author Mary K. Kaiser. Library patrons might remember Mary from Lake Oswego Reads in 2017, when she drew on her 30+ years as a NASA researcher to give talks related to Natalie Holt’s book, Rise of the Rocket Girls. Five years later, Mary is back to talk about her own book, The Muse of Kill Devil Hills. This historical fantasy supposes that the Greek muse Polyhymnia was coerced by her sister Urania to nurture Mortals’ quest for powered flight. After a number of false starts, Polyhymnia discovers a kindred soul in Wilbur Wright. The rest is history… and fantasy.
Mary and her husband (Franz) live in the Lake Grove neighborhood with their dog-with-issues (Daisy). She currently serves as a consultant for NASA’s Engineering and Safety Center, and occasionally helps out at Lakeside Bicycle (a position for which she is far less qualified).
This presentation is made possible by the Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library. Contact Alicia Yokoyama, Reference Librarian, at ayokoyama@lakeoswego.city if you have questions.
