World Cinema Series: Io Capitano (French/Wolof)
In this acclaimed 2023 film which won top directing and acting prizes at the Venice Film Festival, writer-director Garrone presents a “reverse shot” of the immigration experience while unfurling an epic, cinematographically magnificent odyssey from West Africa to Italy.
This film is part of Lake Oswego Public Library’s World Cinema Series, and will be screened at The Lake Theater Cafe (106 N State St, Lake Oswego, OR 97034). Free ADA accessible parking is available at The Lakeview Village: First Street, Parking Garage.
Io Captitano is in French and Wolof and will be shown with English subtitles. Admission is free. After the screening, please join us for a thoughtful discussion about the film at The Lake Theater Café, where delicious food and drinks are available for purchase.
The World Cinema Series takes place on the last Tuesday of every month at 5:30 PM.
