You Seem Nice, Let’s Be Friends! Spotting Scams Like a Librarian (Digital Dive #5)

This is the fifth and final class in the series, "The Digital Dive," led by Adult Services Librarian April Younglove. Designed to help you navigate the rapidly-changing world of information with confidence, this series empowers you with essential fact-checking skills.

Think you’d spot a scammer? In this final class of the series, we’ll shift from fake posts to fake people—exploring how scammers use modern technology to fool you, from phone scams with voice fakery to romance scams, email cons, and old-fashioned confidence tricks. By the end, you’ll be ready to debunk just about anything!

This class will be held at the Adult Community Center located at 505 G Ave, Lake Oswego, OR 97034. Please note that the first class of the Digital Dive was held at the Lake Oswego Public Library, while classes 2 to 5 are hosted at the Adult Community Center (ACC).

A recording of the first class, "Is it AI or Is it Real? How to Spot Computer-Generated Content Like a Librarian," held on March 13th, is available on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@LakeOLib/streams.
