Young Entrepreneur Program
An initiative launched with the 2024 season at the Lake Oswego Farmers' Market, the Young Entrepreneurs Program is designed to foster the entrepreneurial spirit among young individuals in our community. The program is an exciting opportunity for Lake Oswego youth in grades 9-12 to learn the fundamentals of business and entrepreneurship. Participants are invited to create their own handmade products and sell them directly to customers at the bustling Lake Oswego Farmers' Market with up to 8,000 visitors each week.
Benefits of Participation
1. Real-World Experience: Participants gain firsthand experience in running a small business, from concept to sales.
2. Skill Development: The program helps develop critical skills including communication, problem-solving, and money management.
3. Community Engagement: Young entrepreneurs have the chance to interact with a diverse group of community members, fostering a sense of connection and civic pride.
4. Mentorship and Support: Participants receive guidance from experienced entrepreneurs and business professionals, providing valuable insights and advice.
Success Stories
In our inaugural season, many of our young entrepreneurs thrived in our program, selling out of their products, taking special orders for custom items, and being commissioned to create something special and unique for members of our community. From handcrafted jewelry, hand-thrown pottery, and other beautiful works of art to homemade baked goods and delicious hot foods, our Farmers’ Market attendees are noticing and supporting the creativity and drive of our young participants.
How to Join
The applications for the 2025 Young Entrepreneur Program are now closed. Applications for the 2026 market season will open in early January.
