All the World's a Stage: An Actor's Life 4/17
As presented in Emma Pattee’s novel Tilt, there are many colors and dimensions to the world of acting. What is an actor’s life really like, especially in and around Portland? Presented by actor/director Nancy McDonald.
Nancy McDonald knows it all firsthand. She has enjoyed a lifetime performing in plays in a professional career in NYC, LA, London, Toronto and Oregon, after her beginnings in her home state of Ohio (just like the husband in Tilt). Onscreen, she had principal roles in TV soaps, worked in various films large and small, and has done numerous commercials. She founded the nonprofits Shakespeare Stage Company in New York, and The Writer’s Lab in Hollywood where she directed new scripts with prominent LA actors. An award-winning director, you may have seen her plays at Lakewood Theatre including Wait Until Dark, Agatha Christie’s Murder on The Nile (winner of 4 OTAS awards, including Best Play and Best Director), staged readings of four new plays for Fertile Ground, as well as the Side-Door Stage production of The Gin Game, not once, but twice! She most recently directed A Tomb With a View with her husband, actor/author/poet/genealogist and director Laurence Overmire. She is a popular arts educator and teaches a wide variety of acting and performance-related courses for students 18+. You’ll find her current offerings at the Lakewood Center for the Arts website and on her own website, www.jugglingfeathers.com.
