Like Augustine in Good Morning, Midnight, Harry Truman Refused to Leave - 2/6

Tuesday, February 6, 2018 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Jeff Davies, owner of EcoTours of Oregon Day Tours, takes a look at the person buried by the world's largest avalanche on “his mountain" Mt. St. Helens, when it erupted on May 18, 1980.

Davies has conducted tours to Mount St. Helens since 1992 and has found the study of the mountain endlessly fascinating.  He will share a bit of what he has learned about Truman, an 83-year-old “tough old buzzard,” as The Columbian described him, and Mount St. Helens after 25 years of guiding tours there. The presentation will include recorded short interviews with Truman and others who were in the area when the mountain erupted. Sponsored by Lake Owego Women’s Coalition.
