Portland Books Through Bars

Wednesday, April 2, 2025 - 5:30pm to 7:00pm

Portland Books Through Bars formed in the mid-1990s as a sister program to Seattle Books to Prisoners, emerging with a shared mission to combat educational inequity for people who are incarcerated. Over the decades, the organization evolved into a dedicated collective working to challenge restrictive policies and advocate for the transformative power of books. Speakers from Portland Books Through Bars and other local organizations will dive into their history, their work, and how it relates to our LO Reads 2025 selection, How To Read A Book by Monica Wood. Doors open at 5:00 PM. This event is free and open to the public.
