When Just Us, Get No Justice: How Racial and Gender Hierarchies Maintain Black Women's Oppression
Professor Shirley A. Jackson is a sociologist and former chair of the Black Studies Department at Portland State University. Dr. Jackson’s research focuses on race, gender, and social movements. Her talk focuses on the intersecting caste-like system of race and gender that works to silence and restrain Black women’s voices. During times where calls for social justice focus on Black Lives Matter, these calls appear to have excluded them.
