Workshop: Beginning Quilling

Tuesday, August 8, 6:30-8:30pm. Registration is required. Quilling is the age-old art of paper curling, invented in the 16th century by French and Italian monks as a way to embellish precious art and relic boxes. In this class, students will create a whimsical, three-dimensional piece of art with mere paper strips.

Pints from the Past: Black Pioneers in Oregon

Gwen Carr, Program Chair for the Oregon Black Pioneers organization, brings us a presentation that tells stories of little known Black pioneers who lived across the state from as early as 1788.  Some were brought to Oregon as slaves and some free men and women.  In spite of harsh Black Exclusion laws they lived and thrived in Oregon as explorers, cowboys, entrepreneurs, loggers, railway and shipyard workers and community members.
