2019 Star Spangled Parade & Celebration

Don your patriotic colors, decorate your wagons and join friends and neighbors for the annual Star Spangled Parade. Delight in festive floats, musical entertainment, vibrant vehicles and costumed canines as they march down A Avenue to Millennium Plaza Park. The parade features Lake Oswego’s Fire engine, an authentic Fife & Drum Band, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, classic cars and more! Then, continue the celebration at Millennium Plaza Park with live music from Gospel Hooligans, a Presentation of Colors from local Girl Scouts, face painting, balloon animals, a pie eating contest and more! The celebration features cuisine from local food crafters too.
PARADE REGISTRATION: All participating vehicles, floats and large groups are required to complete a registration form . Space is limited, please register early and limit participation to one vehicle per family or business. Due to the growing size of the parade, additional safety measures have been implemented, including barricades and flagging. To offset this cost, there is a nominal parade participation fee. Participation is $15 for non-profits and families; $40 for businesses. For registration form click HERE. Please email completed registration forms to Jamie Inglis at email@example.com. If you are an individual or family that would like to walk in the parade, you are welcome to join the festivities by coming to Parade Staging. You will be staged with other families. Bikes/trikes/wagons/dogs welcome.
PARADE STAGING: Staging begins at 9am at Lake Garden Court (off Iron Mountain Blvd.). For safety reasons, the entrance from Iron Mountain Blvd. will be closed. All parade participants, including vehicles and floats, must enter the Parade Staging area from Country Club.
PARADE PARKING: Parade participants have approval to park any additional vehicles at Christ Episcopal Church (located at 1060 Chandler Road) and Oswego Heritage House (located at 398 10th Street).
CANDY: Participants are welcome to throw individually wrapped candy to parade watchers. Please be sure to throw candy to the curb. Please consider tossing candy that will not melt and is not a choking hazard for little ones.
PATRIOTIC PETS: Pets are welcome to join the fun by dressing up and parading with their owners down A Avenue toward the front of the parade. Pets in costume have an opportunity to win a prize by registering at the Animal Care Group booth in Millennium Plaza after the parade. Thank you to Animal Care Group for sponsoring this exciting addition to our Star Spangled Celebration!STAR SPANGLED CELEBRATION (10:30am-1pm): Numerous festivities take place at Millennium Plaza Park after the conclusion of the parade. Enjoy the fun including live music from The Gospel Hooligans, a pie eating contest, face painting, balloon animals and more!
PIE EATING CONTEST: Celebrate the USA with Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation's eighth annual Pie Eating Contest. Commemorate our country's independence by racing to complete an "All-American" Pie. Contest participants must be 18 years or older to enter. Register onsite at 11am (after the Star Spangled Parade). Contest begins at noon.
