
2023 Star Spangled Parade
Don your patriotic colors, decorate your wagons and join friends and neighbors for the annual Star Spangled Parade. Delight in festive floats, musical entertainment, vibrant vehicles and costumed canines as they march down A Avenue to Millennium Plaza Park via Second Street. The parade features Lake Oswego’s Fire engine, an authentic Fife & Drum Band, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, classic cars and more! Then, continue the celebration at Millennium Plaza Park with live music from Bon Bon Vivant, face painting from U B Painted, balloon animals, a pie eating contest and more! The celebration features cuisine from local food crafters too.
PARADE REGISTRATION: All participating vehicles, floats and large groups are required to complete a registration form. Registration forms available HERE and due June 12. If you are an individual or family that would like to walk in the parade, you are welcome to join the festivities by coming to Parade Staging (no registration form needed). You will be staged with other families. Bikes/trikes/wagons/dogs welcome.
PARADE STAGING: Staging taking place between 9-9:45am at Lake Garden Court (off Iron Mountain Blvd.). All parade participants, including vehicles and floats, must enter the parade staging area via County Club Road. Police will be assisting with entry. Participants may turn left or right from Country Club to enter. Exit will be via Chandler Road.
PARADE ROUTE: Parade staging takes place off Lake Garden Court and then travels to Chandler and 10th Street onto A Avenue. The route then proceeds onto Second Street to Millennium Plaza Park. Parade map is attached for reference.
PARKING: Parking for parade staging is available at Christ Church Parish (1060 Chandler Road). Parking for parade viewing and celebration is available at City Hall (380 A Avenue), Public Parking lot at State Street between between A & B Avenues and Public Parking lot at State Street and Foothills Road. Access to the parking garages on First Street at Lake View Village and the Windward will be closed briefly for safety during the parade hours from 9:30am-approximately 11am.
CANDY: Candy cannot be tossed or thrown from vehicles. Candy must be gently tossed by walkers alongside the vehicle, so that it lands in front of spectators and away from the path of vehicles. Please do not have young children throw candy that will not reach the curb. Please consider tossing candy that will not melt and is not a choking hazard for little ones.
BIKE CORRAL: Looking for a space to store your bike, trike or wagon after the parade? Join sponsor, Lakeside Bicycles, at Millennium Plaza Park to store your ride for free while you enjoy the Star Spangled Celebration!
STAR SPANGLED CELEBRATION (10:30am-1pm): Numerous festivities take place at Millennium Plaza Park after the conclusion of the parade, including:

- Pie Eating Contest
- Vendors
- And more!
PIE EATING CONTEST: Celebrate the USA with Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation's annual Pie Eating Contest. Commemorate our country's independence by racing to complete an "All-American" Pie. Contest participants must be 18 years or older to enter. Register onsite at 11am (after the Star Spangled Parade). Contest begins at noon.
