Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Honor the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a silent walk throughout Millennium plaza and the roundabout at First & Evergreen and a reflective program. The commemorative event is co-hosted by LO for Love, Respond to Racism, and the City. The program includes remarks remembering Dr. King’s legacy from keynote speaker, Cameron Whitten. Whitten is founder and CEO of Brown Hope, an organization "committed to researching, implementing and evolving new paradigm challenging strategies that help inspire a national movement on racial healing and hope." The event also includes a silent meditative walk with reflection on equality and a musical performance inspiring hope from Dorcas Brown of the Brown Sisters.  City Councilor Massene Mboup will also share remarks and the audience will be treated to poetry from youth community members. The event will be held rain or shine.
