Jingle & Swing: The 2017 Holiday Concert

City of Lake Oswego Oregon Official Website

Sat. Dec.16, 7pm

Lakeridge High School Auditorium

Jingle and Swing transports audiences to the early days of 1930s jazz, when hep cat swing had its heyday, 78 rpm records were cut live on radio shows, and musicians like Nat King Cole, The Boswell Sisters, Duke Ellington, The Dorsey Brothers and Cab Calloway owned the day.  A sparkling cast of local NW swing luminaries will lead the vintage holiday charge, including Pete Krebs, multi-instrumentalist Casey MacGill (from Seattle), members of The Stolen Sweets, cabaret sweetheart Pink Lady and light-as-air swing dancers Melissa Roane and Colin Livesay

Tickets $23 for Adults; $16 for Youth.  Proceeds benefit the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center.  General Admission.  Doors open at 6:15pm.  To purchase tickets, click HERE or call the Parks & Recreation Front Desk at 503-675-2549 and reference class #16514.

A bit about the bandleaders:

Pete Krebs is one of Portland’s most beloved musical chameleons, a recent inductee into the OR Music Hall of Fame and perhaps the only person alive to have played gigs at both CBGB’s and Preservation Hall.   He’s best known as the front man for ‘90s seminal Portland punk band Hazel, and has shared stages with artists as diverse as Elliott Smith, Mark Lanegan, Nirvana, The Holy Modal Rounders, The Hot Club of Cowtown and Danny Barnes, just to name a few.  Pete’s excavation of old music forms has revealed a deep love for old-time swing, gypsy jazz, Western swing and even honky tonk.

Seattle’s Casey MacGill is a classic Hollywood character in appearance and style. MacGill plays boogie-woogie, swing, and stride piano. He blows a lyrical jazz cornet, and his most unique instrumental voice is a 6-string tenor ukulele. He has been singing and arranging vocal harmonies for over 40 years, in a career that stretches from Los Angeles (Mood Indigo, feature films "Frances" and "Swing Shift") to Spokane, WA (The Spirits of Rhythm and the neo-swing classic CD "Jump") to Broadway (The musical "Swing") and finally to Seattle (most recently with the Blue 4 Trio).

Rounding out the cast will be special guests from The Stolen Sweets (Portland’s well-loved ‘30s harmonious swing sextet).

Tunes from cabaret crooner/hoofer Pink Lady

And Lindy Hop dance specialists Melissa Roane and Colin Livesay.
