The Lake Oswego Swim Park is scheduled to open on Tuesday July 1, 2014!
Daily hours are Sunday through Saturday, 1 pm to 6 pm
200 Ridgeway Road

Open during July and August, Swim Park entry is free and available to residents of Lake Oswego. Certified lifeguards are on duty at all times during open hours. The Swim Park features diving platforms, water sprayers, inner tube water polo games, outdoor showers, and lounge chairs. Children under the age of ten must be accompanied by an individual 16 years or older. The "buddy system" is enforced. No one is allowed to swim alone.

Star Spangled Parade and Celebration

Celebration continues until 2pm

It's time to celebrate our many freedoms and Lake Oswego does this with panache! So don your patriotic colors, decorate your wagons and enjoy an old fashioned 4th of July celebration! Join the fun or watch your friends stroll down A Avenue in the spectacular Parade, which is led by a Lake Oswego Fire Engine. The Parade features an authentic Fife & Drum Band, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, classic cars and more! Keep an eye out for our Mayor, Kent Studebaker and Lake Oswego City Councilors who will be walking in the parade and throwing out candy to spectators! When guests arrive at Millennium Plaza Park, they will be welcomed with live music, face-painting, balloon animals and a pie-eating contest. It's sure to be a truly memorable 4th of July.

Pie Eating Contest Details: Back by popular demand! Celebrate the USA with Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation's Fifth Annual Pie Eating Contest. Commemorate our country's independence by racing to complete an "All-American" Pie. Contest participants must be 18 years or older to enter. Register onsite at the registration table at Millennium Plaza Park. Contest begins at 12:30pm.

Summer of Music! Enjoy outdoor concerts in Lake Oswego’s most beautiful parks! These delightfully entertaining concerts provide an opportunity to relax under the summer sky with friends and family. Try something new!

Outdoor Climbing- French’s Dome, Mt. Hood
French’s Dome offers an excellent range of easy to moderate climbs that are perfect for any individual who is interested in trying outdoor rock climbing. Challenge yourself to reach the top for breathtaking views of Mt. Hood over the canopy. Ages 9 and older, Saturday, July 12, 9a.m. to 5 p.m., $87. Register here.

Basic Canoe Skills
Canoeing is a wonderful way to explore and enjoy the water! Begin by discussing equipment needs and safety. In the water, learn proper techniques for launching, landing, paddle strokes, and boast maneuvers. Ages 10+, Sunday July 6 and Saturday July 26, 11am to 2pm. Register here.

Basic Stand Up Paddle Lesson
On dryland we discuss paddling safely, basic equipment and proper board carrying. On the water, we introduce the basic paddle strokes needed to efficiently move a Stand-Up board on flat-water. This is a fun, family friendly sport that is a great full body workout. No experience necessary. Ages 10+, Sunday July 13, 1:30 to 4:30pm. Register here.

Basic Skills Kayak
This class establishes the foundation that all paddlers need. In the classroom, we discuss paddling safely, local destinations and equipment. On the water, we introduce the basic paddle strokes needed to efficiently move a kayak through water. Ages 10+, Thursday July 17, 10am to 2pm. Register here.

Blockbuster - A Walking Tour of Historic Downtown Commercial Buildings
Lake Oswego, one of the oldest towns in Clackamas County, has a number of historic, downtown commercial buildings, yet little has been done to showcase these treasures until now. The Lake Oswego Preservation Society is offering the "Blockbuster" walking tour which features 14 buildings that span nearly 100 years from 1875 to 1962. All of these buildings have a story to tell. Join Marylou Colver, Lake Oswego Preservation Society president, for an educational and entertaining tour! Saturday July 12 or Sunday July 20, 2 to 3:30pm. Register here.

The 10th Annual Learn to Row Day will be held on Saturday, July 12, with the first 2 hour session starting at 7:30 a.m. and then running continuously until mid afternoon. The event, the only one of its kind in the Portland area, is free and open to anyone 13 years of age or older. It is a fun and exciting time on the water doing something that most people have always wanted to try. Adult Learn to Row
Sweep rowing is the technique of rowing with one oar per person. Rowers sit in two, four, or eight-person boats, often steered by a coxswain. Sculling is the technique of using two oars in unison. Scullers learn in instructional single shells, Learn to Row classes include instruction in both sweep and sculling, depending upon interest. Register here.

Learn-To-Skate Nights
A one-time mini-lesson for beginner and intermediate skateboarders. Parent-signed registration form required. Ages 5 to 15 (Parent/adult must be present entire time for ages 5-8), 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., Thursday, July 10 and July 31, $4.

Skateboarding Camps
For all levels. Learn the basics or improve your skateboarding skills. Enjoy a combination of instruction and supervised free skating with camp instructors.

All-Comer’s Track Meets @ LOHS: July 9, 16 & 23
Athletes of all ages and their families have the chance to try track events and compete in a fun atmosphere. Events will take place at the Lake Oswego High School Track, 2501 Country Club Road. The entry fee is $3 youth and $4 adults. Event dates will be Wednesdays, July 9, 16, and 23 at 6 p.m. For more information visit and click on the special events page.

Movies in the Park

Celebrate Summer with an outdoor movie at Millennium Plaza Park. Plan a fun family outing or enjoy a romantic evening by watching a movie larger than life! Bring your blankets, pillows and low sand chairs for a relaxing night under the stars. Delicious popcorn, cotton candy, and other treats will be available for purchase. Movies in the Park is tons of fun for all ages. Thanks to Bull Mountain Heating, AC, and Insulation for supporting this wonderful community event.
