July is Parks and Recreation Month

This year's Parks and Recreation Month theme, The Power of Parks and Recreation, celebrates the essential role parks and recreation play in creating healthier people, stronger communities, and a higher quality of life. Throughout July, we proudly recognize the dedicated parks and recreation professionals who care for our parks and natural areas, maintain trails and facilities, provide enriching programs, preserve natural resources, and create welcoming spaces where people of all ages can connect, play, learn, and thrive. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the volunteers, partners, and community members whose support helps make this work possible.

This month, we invite you to experience the power of parks by exploring Lake Oswego's more than 600 acres of parkland, miles of scenic trails, recreation facilities, playgrounds, sports fields, natural areas, and vibrant community spaces.

Throughout July, we're celebrating the many ways parks and recreation enrich our lives through The Power of Connection, where relationships grow and communities come together; The Power of Play, inspiring creativity, fun, and lifelong learning; The Power of Community, creating places where everyone can gather and celebrate; The Power of Nature, providing opportunities to explore and restore; The Power of Belonging, ensuring welcoming spaces and programs for all; and The Power of Well Being, supporting healthy, active lifestyles and building resilient communities.

Be sure to check out our special Parks and Recreation Month feature in this month's Hello LO to learn more about the people, places, and programs that make Lake Oswego such a special place to live, work, and play.

Thank you to our outstanding staff, dedicated volunteers, community partners, and residents for helping celebrate the power of parks and recreation and for making Lake Oswego's parks, recreation programs, and natural spaces a source of pride for our entire community.
