Celebrate summer with an evening concert featuring your favorite NW performers and dinner from a local vendor! 

Lottery and Registration:  Pre-registration is required.  In order to ensure equal access to these small-scale events, ticket purchase will be based on a lottery.  If interested in attending one (or all!) of the Picnic in the Parks, please register for each individual show lottery using the link below. The Lottery was drawn on June 15 for the July concerts and it is closed at this time.  The lottery for the August concerts was drawn on July 14 and it is closed at this time. 

If selected in the lottery, participants may purchase up to 6 tickets. Tickets are $14 each and include a meal. 

Event Details:  Picnic in the Park held rain or shine.  Please bring your own low sand chairs or blankets for your assigned space.

Thursday, July 8: Sabroso

Brothers Pablo and Ricardo Ojeda have been writing and playing music together for as long as they can remember. Their musical writing style has taken many forms during the evolution of their sound. From the national touring dance floor packing beats of Rubberneck, to the hypnotic passionate rhythms of Toque Libre. The Ojeda brothers have continually produced eclectic musical incarnations that meld rhythm and melody together in their own unique way.

Thursday, July 15: Tom Grant 
Tom Grant, master instrumentalist, talented singer and natural entertainer nimbly walks the line between jazz tradition and modern pop. This soft-spoken Oregon native’s inspired songwriting produces propulsive R&B grooves, infectious melodic hooks, and stylish ballads with equal ease. He plays jazz piano with the harmonic sophistication and deep sense of swing that only comes from more than four decades on the bandstand. As one of the Pacific Northwest’s most renowned musical artists, Tom Grant’s career achievements reflect his unique ability to embrace the full spectrum of contemporary music.

Thursday, July 22, Todd Haaby
One of six siblings, Todd’s musical influences started at a young age. By age 15, Todd received his first guitar as a birthday gift, not knowing that it would prove to be a life changing event . Realizing his new found passion for this instrument, he dedicated the coming months to constant practice, only showing his face for the occasional PB&J sandwich. Within six months, Todd formed his first band becoming lead guitarist, fulfilling a personal goal. The next three years opened many doors to incredible opportunities which included live concerts, clubs, and radio performances. At age 18 Todd was asked to perform live with Grammy Award-Winning artist Phil Driscoll. After many years of experimenting with a variety of musical genres, Todd, then 24, was introduced to the sounds of Spain. Attracted by the fiery passion of Latin music, this would mark a turning point in Todd’s musical direction. With a growing love of Spanish music and the fortunate opportunity to travel abroad, Todd developed a unique style all his own. From riffs he learned as a kid listening to Edward Van Halen, to the explosive sounds of the Gypsy Kings, Todd has combined all of his musical experiences to write and define a flavor of music indicative of Nuevo Flamenco.

Thursday, July 29: The Chris Baum Project: Tribute to Steely Dan
Chris Baum has been a fixture in the Pacific Northwest music scene since his youth as a classical pianist, winning local, regional, and national competitions. Since then, Chris has morphed into a soulful singer/pianist inspired by his idols Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Donald Fagen, Johnny "Guitar" Watson and the many singers of Tower of Power.  Since 1994, Chris has exercised and honed master band leading and musical arrangement skills to attract 'cream of the crop' talent to realize inherently lofty musical goals.

Thursday, August 5:  Kalimba

The nationally touring show Kalimba, The Spirit of Earth Wind and Fire provides an Earth Wind & Fire experience so satisfying it transports audiences back to the excitement of the first time they heard these unforgettable songs. Lead vocalist, Thomas “Chazz” Smith, created Kalimba, The Spirit of Earth Wind and Fire in 2011 with the vision of honoring the beloved Earth Wind & Fire hits he and millions of others listened to while growing up. The 10-piece organization includes a full horn and rhythm section to reproduce the infectious grooves created by EWF’s Verdine White and Ralph Johnson. In February the loss of EWF’s founder and musical genius, Maurice White, left the world mourning, but Kalimba, The Spirit of Earth Wind and Fire faithfully honors his work by featuring lush treatments of the soaring vocal harmonies that are the hallmark of Earth Wind & Fire’s music and EWF’s late founder, musical genius, Maurice White.  Performances authentically replicate the signature high notes of Maurice White’s sidekick, Philip Bailey.

Thursday, August 19: Jennifer Batten & Full Steam

The buzz on Jennifer Batten rose from the guitar underground, and the guitar magazines promptly began chronicling her savvy musicianship and highly original approach to the electric guitar. A major turning point came when she was selected from over one hundred guitarists to play in Michael Jackson’s highly skilled band which toured the world over a ten year period supporting his multi million record setting CD’s; Bad, Dangerous, and HIStory. She also appeared with Jackson in the Superbowl XXVI half time show airing to 80 nations (1.5 billion people). This was the largest TV viewing audience in history. During the off time between Jackson’s tours Jennifer released two solo CD’s “Above, Below, and Beyond” and “Momentum”, both of which caught the ear of British guitar icon Jeff Beck who asked her to join his band shortly after the HIStory tour wrapped up in the spring of 1998. They joined forces for 3 years on the CD’s “Who Else”, and “You Had It Coming” which were both supported by world tours. A DVD is available of this collaboration entitled “Jeff Beck Live in Tokyo 1999”. In January 2016, she received the She Rocks “Icon” award and recently also was inducted into Guitar Player Magazine’s “Gallery of the Greats”. Her latest project in part as an effort to retire from constant international touring is Portland’s “Jennifer Batten & Full Steam band featuring some of Portland’s finest talent. This is a band offering a variety of genres of dance music from Michael Jackson, to Prince, Hall and Oats, Huey Lewis, Toto, and Van Halen.

Radical Revolution is a 6-piece 80’s tribute band packing a huge variety of 80’s hits (Whitney Houston, Rick Springfield, Madonna, A-Ha, Def Leppard, Go-Go’s, Kenny Loggins, Erasure, and WAY more!). The band features both female and male lead vocals, fat keyboards, blistering guitars, thumping bass, and big 80’s drums to keep everyone dancing from start to finish! Known for their high energy shows &  ‘good times’ vibe, Radical Revolution lives up to their motto with every performance: We rock, we love to rock, and people love rockin’ with us!
