McEwan Road Sidewalk

In 2025, Lake Oswego City Council approved moving forward with completing design of a new sidewalk on McEwan Road, between SW 65th Avenue and Kristi Way. This project is a partnership with the Lake Oswego School District (LOSD) and provides a critical connection to the River Grove Elementary School.

LOSD started design on the new sidewalk in 2023. Under an agreement, the City is taking on project management of the sidewalk. Designs are expected to be finalized in early to mid-2026. City project team members reached out to directly impacted residents and property owners in fall 2025 to discuss the project and receive input.

An open house to share the final designs is expected to be held in early 2026.

The project includes:

  • Approximately 1,500 feet of new concrete sidewalk along the north shoulder of McEwan Road, between SW 65th Avenue and Kristi Way,
  • Two new curb ramps,
  • Driveway reconstruction,
  • Relocation of water meters or boxes,
  • Removal of a small number of trees,
  • Stormwater drainage improvements, including some landscaped planters and storm pipe.

Construction is expected to take place in summer 2026, before school resumes. Schedules are subject to change.

Project Updates

November 2025

Survey work and site visits to finalize designs will be taking place in the coming weeks along McEwan Road. What to expect:

  • Underground utilities will be marked on the street and in gravel parking areas with colored paint. Paint marks will disappear over time.
  • Survey crews will primarily work in the public right-of-way, but at times, may need to access private properties to verify property corners and monument markers. They will knock on doors or leave door hangers if access is needed.
  • Trees may be flagged during survey work. We will be looking at how to minimize impact to trees and will have an arborist working with the team.
  • Occasional daytime lane closures may occur while crews conduct exploratory digging or potholing for utilities. Flaggers or signage will direct drivers or assist local neighbors with access.
  • Wooden stakes with flags may indicate the public right-of-way, drainage issues, or other considerations. Please do not remove or adjust the stakes.

The project team plans to hold an open house to share the final designs with the community in early 2026.
