2024 Pavement Rehabilitation
Paving is taking place on some streets in Lake Oswego in late spring and summer 2024. Paving may include extensive repair areas, grinding existing pavement, and a new overlay or pavement of the driving lanes.
Project Updates
September 26, 2024: Most Work Complete
Most of the major paving work is now complete. Some miscellaneous clean up, striping and punch list work remains. This work will be taking place over the next few weeks.

September 5, 2024: Paving Schedule Update
Pavement patching has been scheduled for the following locations and dates:

Please plan extra travel time and expect delays on paving days. Residents within the work area will have access during most of the work, but may experience longer delays getting to/from your home, especially once the new asphalt is placed. There is usually a time period of a few hours where vehicles are not allowed to drive on the new asphalt until it is cooled/dry. Please find an alternate place to park or plan extra travel time on paving days.
August 8, 2024: Additional Patching on Some Streets
Pavement patching on some smaller sections of roadway will be taking place sometime in September. These streets include:
- Glen Eagles Road, between Glen Eagles Place and Prestwick,
- Iron Mountain Boulevard, between Bayberry and Atwater,
- Cameo Court, between Knaus Road and the cul-de-sac,
- Hwy 43/State Street, southbound lane between A Avenue and the railroad tracks (at night).
July 2, 2024: Major Paving Activities Almost Complete - Miscellaneous Items Remain
Paving on most streets is almost complete!
Cleanup, restoration, berm installations, and striping remains. These activities will take place over the coming weeks. Striping usually occurs at least two weeks after the new pavement has been placed.

What to Expect During Paving Days:
- Paving work is scheduled to take place between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- Lane closures and flaggers will be in place—please follow directions and signage.
- Residents within the work area will have access during most of the work, but may experience longer delays getting to/from your home, especially once the new asphalt is placed. There is usually a time period of a few hours where vehicles are not allowed to drive on the new asphalt until it is cooled/dry. Please find an alternate place to park or plan extra travel time on paving days.
- On-street parking will be prohibited in the work zone. Watch for no parking signage—cars may be towed out of work zones to avoid delays.
- Activities may include grinding away old pavement, jackhammering concrete before paving, and compacting asphalt with vibratory rollers.
- Construction noise and vibration is expected for nearby residents.
- Final striping and pavement markings are expected to occur later this summer.
June 7, 2024: Construction Update
First Street is scheduled to be paved on Monday, June 10, between 6 am and 6 pm:
- During work hours, First Street will be fully closed to all vehicular traffic between Evergreen Street and A Avenue, and vehicles will be detoured. Please refer to the map below for closure information.
- Sidewalks will remain open for business, pedestrian, and bike access.
- No vehicular access will be allowed in or out of the public parking lots on First Street at the Windward or Lakeview Village.
- On-street parking will be prohibited on First Street between A and Evergreen, and also on Evergreen Street, between First and Second Street. Watch for no parking signage—cars may be towed out of work zones to avoid delays.
- Please park on adjacent side streets or public parking areas outside the work area. A map of public parking locations is available here.
Curb ramp and storm drain work is progressing well on Carman Drive. This work should be complete next week.
Starting next week, crews will begin working on storm drains on Fir Ridge. Residents should expect to see some lane closures during work hours.
May 31, 2024: Paving Schedule and Construction Update
First Street, between A Avenue and Evergreen Street, will be fully closed to all vehicular traffic between 6 am and 6 pm on Monday, June 10 for paving activities. This has been rescheduled from the original June 3 date. We will continue to update the website should there be additional changes.
May 16, 2024
A contractor has now been hired (Knife River).
Preliminary work is expected to begin on Carman Drive in late May and continue through June. This work will include installing Americans with Disabilities Act concrete curb ramps and stormwater drains (catch basins). Expect intermittent lane closures during the curb ramp and stormwater drain work on Carman Drive.
The current paving schedule and planned work hours for each street is set as follows. This schedule is subject to change depending on conditions.

We will strive to keep disturbances to a minimum. However, paving activities are very noisy, dusty, and create vibration for nearby residents and businesses.
Striping/pavement markings typically are placed about two weeks after paving.
April 30, 2024: First Street Paving Now Anticipated for Early June
Due to contract timelines and mobilization schedules, paving on First Street is now anticipated to occur on either Monday, June 3, Sunday June 9 or Monday, June 10. Once the contractor confirms the date, the webpage will be updated accordingly.
April 28, 2024: First Street Expected to be Paved in late May/early June
City Council is expected to approve the contract for 2024 paving at the May 7 Council Meeting.
We have coordinated with the property managers along First Street and set a goal to pave First Street in late May or early June, on a Sunday or Monday before school lets out and the downtown gets busier for the summer season. Paving schedules change due to weather and other issues, but the plan is to pave First Street on one of the following dates: Monday, May 20; Monday, June 3; Sunday, June 9, or Monday, June 10. A detailed schedule will be shared here once it is confirmed with the contractor.

- First Street is expected to be paved in one day shift, between 6 am and 6 pm.

March 26, 2024:
In late spring and summer, the City will be paving several streets in Lake Oswego. Paving may include extensive repair areas, grinding existing pavement, and a new overlay or pavement of the driving lanes. The following streets are planned for paving rehabilitation:
- First Street, between A Avenue and Evergreen Road
- Carman Drive, between Fosberg Road and Touchstone
- Fir Ridge, between Twin Fir and Wembley Park Road
- Glen Eagles Road, between Wembley Park Road and Prestwick Road

More information will be shared over the coming months once a contractor is hired and a schedule is set for the paving dates.
