Burglary Investigation Leads To Multiple Arrests
LAKE OSWEGO – On Friday, February 13, 2026, Lake Oswego Police served the last of multiple search warrants related to a burglary investigation. Over the course of three days, officers and detectives searched seven locations and arrested three suspects.
This investigation began in October of 2025, when suspects broke into the house of a recently deceased man on Parkhill Street in Lake Oswego and stole dozens of firearms. This occurred while the grieving family was in the process of going through their deceased family member’s belongings.
On December 10, 2025, officers responded to another report of a burglary at the same address. At that time, two suspects were trying to break into the residence. Officers arrived quickly in the area and were able to arrest one of the suspects, 41-year-old Portland resident Nicholas R. Welter.
Through extensive investigation, Lake Oswego detectives were able to connect Mr. Welter and 32-year-old Gresham resident Myranda Rice to both burglaries at the Parkhill residence, as well as a burglary in West Linn, where they targeted a house that had been damaged by a serious fire. During the investigation, detectives also identified a third suspect, 60-year-old Molalla resident Michael Kelso. The investigation revealed the suspects preyed upon the victims as a result of being featured in news stories about the tragedies they suffered.
Detectives were able to identify locations in Portland, Gresham, and Molalla where the suspects were staying and storing stolen items and, because the suspects stole numerous firearms, Lake Oswego Police sought the assistance of the Portland Police Bureau Special Emergency Response Team (SERT), East Metro SWAT team, and the Clackamas County SWAT team to serve some of the search warrants at those locations.
During this operation, detectives were able to recover over thirty firearms, stolen artwork, and military service medals. We are grateful for the assistance and teamwork of our law enforcement partners at the Portland Police Bureau, West Linn Police, Sandy Police, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Gresham Police, East Metro SWAT, Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office, Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, and the United States Postal Inspector Service who all provided a significant level of assistance in bringing this case to a successful resolution.
