LOPD Sponsors Corporal Diffie Veterans Fund
LAKE OSWEGO - The Lake Oswego Police Department is excited to announce its partnership as a sponsoring agency of the 'Corporal Diffie Veterans Fund'. The Corporal Diffie Veterans Fund was established in 2019 and is a local non-profit operated by the American Legion Milwaukie Post 180. The fund specifically addresses the gap between a veteran's need for help and when resources and services can be provided, which can often take months. The Corporal Diffie Veterans Fund is a unique resource that allows our police officers to address a veteran's immediate needs at the point of contact until resources and long-term solutions can be approved and provided by existing veteran agencies. It is only through the community's support that makes this valuable resource possible. Please take a moment to learn more about the Corporal Diffie Veterans Fund and how you can help us make a difference for our local heroes in need.
Our Adult Resource Officer - and Marine Corps veteran - Tony Sparling is now also our Veteran Resource Officer and will be our main point of contact for connecting veterans with appropriate resources. He can be reached at asparling@lakeoswego.city or through dispatch at (503) 635-0238.
